In celebration of the last four years, Curley hosted their President’s Reception for our senior parents.
Marcelino Gaigler ’28 and Xavier Duvall ’27 are the 2025 recipients of the Mark Borowy ’72 Scholarship. The Mark Borowy ’72 Scholarship is awarded annually to a rising sophomore and rising junior at Archbishop Curley High School. Criteria for the award include financial need, good academic standing, and the recipient must be an active member of the school community. The family and friends of Borowy established this scholarship to honor the 1972 graduate who passed away in 2021. Pictured L-R: Fr. The Freshmen class traveled to Washington DC to visit the Museum of the Bible. They enjoyed lunch together at Union Station. It was a great opportunity to reinforce what the students are learning in their theology class while at the same time enjoying each other’s company as they come to the end of their first year at Curley.
On Friday, the Curley Bands program presented its annual Spring Concert, featuring impressive performances by the Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Advanced Percussion Ensemble, and Jazz Ensemble. The instrumental performance was accompanied by the presentation of several awards. Seniors of the Class of 2025 had their last class, BBQ, and assembly today. Mr. Joseph ran the assembly which started with prayer and then instructions for the upcoming 14 days that cover Exams, Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement. During Tuesday’s celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week, representatives from the Baltimore Area Council and the National Eagle Scout Association presented Mr. Jeremy Joseph with the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award. Established in 2010, the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA ) is presented to Eagle Scouts who demonstrate remarkable achievements well beyond their Scouting endeavors by excelling in their careers at local, regional, or national levels. NOESA recipients inspire others through their positive actions, demonstrating excellence in their chosen professions, hobbies, community service, and adherence to religious beliefs.

At Community Prayer today, seniors discussed how they grew at Curley and where they are going after Curley. David Fritz and Tyler Brown were presented with their Naval Academy acceptance letters and Tim Bonner from Tim’s Automotive presented scholarship checks to Jacob Ruth and Alexander Plumey.
Spanish students traveled to Spain over Spring Break for a cultural immersion experience. Highlights from the trip included a camel ride in Tangier Morocco, visits to the cities of Toledo, Seville, Madrid, and Barcelona, attending a Real Madrid game, enjoying wonderful Spanish cuisine, and visiting some beautiful churches such as the Cathedral in Seville for Easter, the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, and the famous Basilica in Montserrat.

“Carrying Forward the Mission of St. Francis—One Swing at a Time” Inspired by the compassion and service of St. Francis, Curley believes in lifting up those in need—not just through words, but through actions. And there was plenty of action tonight as FRIARS Baseball team matched up vs The Miracle League of Harford County. The Curley Family celebrates the ceremonial laying and blessing of the cornerstone on April 17, 1962 by Archbishop Lawrence Shehan. This day is an opportunity to share a little of Curley’s history and to recognize some of those who are “cornerstones” of the school. The day consists of a special Mass to pray for all the members of the Curley Family, especially those whose prayers and generous gifts sustain the Curley Mission. Curley’s Senior Media Class took a field trip to Fox 45 where Del Parks ’70 was our tour guide. This visit will gave students a behind-the-scenes look at how television newscasts are produced and broadcasted. They had the opportunity to also meet industry professionals, and learn about careers in media and journalism. Screenshot
Curley’s Schola and several members of the Luminare Choir provided the music for a Lenten Tenebrae Service at St. John Catholic Church in Westminster on April 15th. They are pictured with the pastor of St. John’s, Fr. Mark Bialek ’97.
With readings, live scene changes, and music from the Schola, the Senior Class presented the annual Way of the Cross for the student body on March 26th. The Way (or Stations) of the Cross has been promoted by the Franciscan Friars for centuries, and has been celebrated at Curley during Holy Week for many years.
The Curley GALA 30, from start to finish, was a huge success, bringing together our community for an unforgettable evening of celebration, generosity, and impact. The Archdiocese of Baltimore’s 33rd Annual Distinctive Scholars Convocation was held on April 10, 2025. Curley’s three scholars are David Fritz, Nathaniel Kaelber and Tyler Brown. They are shown in photos with Mr. Joseph and Fr. Donald, and Archbishop Lori.
The Curley bands program travelled to Boston for their annual band trip/competition. During this trip, they viewed multiple historic sites like the old city hall and Quincy Market, watched music groups like the Blue Man Group and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and performed to the best of their abilities. The bands won 3 superiors and one excellent, and the Jazz Band won second place while competing against 6 other bands.
